Why do conservatives/republicans hate the ACLU when the ACLU defended ollie north and rush limpbaugh?

They shouldn't be. There has never been a more principled or consistent organization in America. It doesn't matter if you are liberal or conservative, if your constitutional rights have been violated, the ACLU will fight on your behalf. I have a deep respect for their work, their devotion to the Bill of Rights and would challenge anyone to demonstrate a time they have been inconsistent in this regard. They were against the Patriot Act from day 1 and go after Obama just like they did Bush. The right-wing talking heads demonize them because they only want to embrace the constitution when its convenient for them
