MIDDLE SCHOOL PROBLEM!!!?

I'm an English leaner and i don't know anything about middle school. For example, i don't know what is elective, course, semester ect... Because these thing's really important to me. So can you guys help me explain what is these words mean? Not only those 3, there's some important words that i need to know more in middle school, what is it? helppp. thanks
